Courts Not Showing Any Love to Bikers in Myrtle Beach

The fifteen new ordinances designed to limit and control bikers in Myrtle Beach have survived the first two legal challenges.  According to Myrtlebeachonline.com both Horry county and Federal courts have decline to issue any injunctions to stop implementation of the new laws, although the suits have not been dismissed.  Two residents have sued in regards to the new helmet law which contradicts state law in Horry county and event promoter Mike Shank along with H-D of Myrtle Beach have sued in Federal Court stating that the new rules restrict interstate commerce.

For my 2 cents worth- I don’t think much of this stuff will work  These folks get to make the laws, they were elected to do that as representitives of the citizens.  What I don’t understand though, is that I have heard that more than 60% of the residents of Myrtle Beach are in favor of the bike rallies.  It just goes to show that elections do have consequence, and all those people voting for those making the laws should pay attention to what they are doing and only vote for those that will truly represent their views.

The sad reality is that politicians really care about money more than most anything, and the bike rallies bring in lots of money.  Cut that money off and you might just get what you want.  That’s right folks say it with me “.. not a dime in ‘09″.
